Selling at a Florida flea market
Florida markets run on a season. From roughly October to April the snowbird trade arrives and both footfall and space rates climb; through the summer the same booth can cost half as much. Several operators publish two rate cards for exactly this reason, so a price quoted without a date is only ever half the answer, and it is worth asking which card you are being quoted from.
The other split is by term. Open-air markets sell space by the day and suit a vendor testing what moves, while the big covered markets lease by the week or month and let you leave stock in place. Florida has an unusual number of the second kind, several of them air-conditioned, which changes what is realistic to sell through a Gulf Coast summer.
Published day rates in the region run from $1.50 at the cheapest markets to $47.38 for a premium reserved space. Florida requires a Certificate of Registration as a sales tax dealer before you sell, carried with you at the market, and the Annual Resale Certificate it comes with is what lets you buy wholesale for resale without paying sales tax.
