Beyond the Buy: Recommerce and Smarter Sourcing
Via Trading brought two perspectives to the conversation at ASD Market Week: Jacques Stambouli explored how excess inventory becomes an opportunity, while Jenny Franco examined when liquidation belongs in a modern sourcing strategy and when it does not.
As recommerce continues to reshape the retail landscape, businesses are finding new ways to recover value from returns, overstock, and closeout merchandise.
During All Things Circular at ASD Market Week (Las Vegas Convention Center, March 17 to 19, 2026), Via Trading contributed two distinct perspectives to the conversation. CEO Jacques Stambouli explored the larger opportunity behind recommerce, while Sales Director Jenny Franco focused on a critical sourcing question: When is liquidation the right fit for a business?

When Excess Inventory Becomes Opportunity
Jacques Stambouli, CEO of Via Trading, participated in the expert panel: “How to Win in Recommerce: Turning Returns, Overstock, and Closeouts into Profit.”
The panel explored how reverse logistics and resale can transform excess merchandise from a potential liability into a valuable business opportunity.
Returns, overstock, and closeouts can re-enter the market through liquidation, off-price retail, micro-retail, wholesale, and other resale channels. These pathways allow retailers to recover value while creating new inventory opportunities for buyers and entrepreneurs.
The discussion also examined the growing role of live selling in the secondary market. From bulk offers and auctions to individual product sales, live commerce is creating more immediate and engaging ways for sellers to connect merchandise with new buyers.

Knowing When Liquidation Belongs in the Mix
Jenny Franco, Sales Director at Via Trading, presented: “How Liquidation Fits into Modern Sourcing, and When It Doesn’t.”
Her presentation approached liquidation as one component of a broader sourcing strategy, not a universal solution for every buyer or business.
The topic encouraged buyers to look beyond price and consider whether an opportunity aligns with their customers, sales channels, operational capabilities, available resources, and risk tolerance.
A successful sourcing decision is not simply about finding merchandise at the lowest possible cost. It is about selecting inventory that a business can realistically receive, process, position, and resell.

Two Perspectives, One Smarter Approach
Jacques addressed the larger transformation happening across the circular economy, while Jenny brought the conversation directly into the buyer’s decision-making process.
Together, their contributions reflected Via Trading’s commitment to helping businesses understand both the possibilities and realities of liquidation, so they can source more strategically, manage risk, and build more sustainable resale operations.
